Algorithms for Computer Algebra
Book Description
Algorithms for Computer Algebra is the first comprehensive textbook to be published on the topic of computational symbolic mathematics. The book first develops the foundational material from modern algebra that is required for subsequent topics. It then presents a thorough development of modern computational algorithms for such problems as multivariate polynomial arithmetic and greatest common divisor calculations, factorization of multivariate polynomials, symbolic solution of linear and polynomial systems of equations, and analytic integration of elementary functions. Numerous examples are integrated into the text as an aid to understanding the mathematical development. The algorithms developed for each topic are presented in a Pascal-like computer language. An extensive set of exercises is presented at the end of each chapter. Algorithms for Computer Algebra is suitable for use as a textbook for a course on algebraic algorithms at the third-year, fourth-year, or graduate level. Although the mathematical development uses concepts from modern algebra, the book is self-contained in the sense that a one-term undergraduate course introducing students to rings and fields is the only prerequisite assumed. The book also serves well as a supplementary textbook for a traditional modern algebra course, by presenting concrete applications to motivate the understanding of the theory of rings and fields.

Download An Introduction to Genetic Algorithms

John Holland
This is the best general book on genetic algorithms written to date. It covers background, history, and motivation; it selects important, informative examples of applications and discusses the use of genetic algorithms in scientific models; and it gives a good account of the status of the theory of genetic algorithms. Best of all, the book presents its material in clear, straightforward, felicitous prose. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Download A Programmer's Companion to Algorithm Analysis

Book Description
Focusing on practical issues, A Programmer's Companion to Algorithm Analysis bridges the gap between algorithms and software programs. This book explains the fundamental differences between the computational model assumed for algorithms and the real architectures in which programs execute. It highlights the pitfalls that can occur when implementing an algorithm as software and offers suggestions to solve these problems. The book also explores the interactions among program, compiler, and run-time support system, contrasting this with the simpler model assumed for algorithms. Intended for software developers and programmers, it places particular emphasis on the implications of the memory hierarchy on program efficiency.

Download Ebook Beginning Algorithms

Book Description
Beginning Algorithms
A good understanding of algorithms, and the knowledge of when to apply them, is crucial to producing software that not only works correctly, but also performs efficiently. This is the only book to impart all this essential information-from the basics of algorithms, data structures, and performance characteristics to the specific algorithms used in development and programming tasks.

Packed with detailed explanations and instructive examples, the book begins by offering you some fundamental data structures and then goes on to explain various sorting algorithms. You'll then learn efficient practices for storing and searching by way of hashing, trees, sets, and maps. The authors also share tips on optimization techniques and ways to avoid common performance pitfalls. In the end, you'll be prepared to build the algorithms and data structures most commonly encountered in day-to-day software development.

Download Rapidshare Book Quality Of Service Routing In The Internet

This is a Ph.D. dissertation. An enormous amount of packets daily traverse the Internet towards their intended destination. The internet consists of many network elements that direct these packets on the correct path leading towards the destination. This process of finding and following a path to the destination is called routing.

Of course, routing is not infallible and packets may get lost: the current internet cannot give any guarantees regarding the packets it transports, i.e. there are no guarantees on the delay that packets experience, on the jitter, or the packet loss, nor can it guarantee the bandwidth available along the traveled path. However, many new mulit-medi applications cannot properly operate without such guarantees, e.g. for a voice conversation, the maximum delay must be bounded. Finding paths that can meet such demands is called Quality of Service routing.

Contents include: Introduction, Graphs, algorithms and complexity, Shortest path algorithms, Concepts of exact MCP algorithms, Overview of QoS algorithms, Multicast QoS routing, Link-disjoint QoS routing, The complexity of exact MCP algorithms, QoS dynamics, Conclusions.
